A budget figure is only useful if you can see what it rests on. Ours separate the rates applied from the quotations obtained, name the floor area every calculation depends on, and say plainly when no supplier has been appointed and no price committed.
It means a number can be checked rather than taken on trust — and when something moves, you can see which line moved and why.
